The Ashes: A Burning End

Well, all I can say is lucky this blog's background is black!

The Poms won the Ashes for the first time in 18 years.

They played much better than Australia did without doubt. They won with the two things I think writers must have as well.........passion and desire. They had much more than the Aussies, and therefore deserved to win....ack, hack, cough, splutter......man, that was hard to say. ;-)

Ah well, only two years until we go around again!!!

cheers
Dave.

I bet the whole team will be kicking wondering why on earth they came off early in their first innings.

Anyway, don't worry. I'm sure it is all a fluke. We'll be back to our normal standard next week :)

Don't think so Chris, I think you have a good 5 years or so of good cricketing left. The Aussies however have a lot of old hands that need replacing, and unless they start soon, it is going to get ugly real quick!

Just so everyone realises how big this is, it looks like the cricket team are going to be given MBE's for winning the series.

Consider this, they did not save anyone, they did not do anything other than play sport. They beat a team descended from convicts ;-), who only have a population of 20 million compared to Englands 100 million or so I think? The Queen has already sent congratulations, and they have already been welcomed int No 10 by the Prime Minister.

Yeah, fairly big win over there.

Least we could do for them, after all the trouble they have had lately.;-)(only bloody excuse I can come up with!)
cheers
Dave.

That is the English cricket team, the Aussies will be lucky to find anyone willing to shout them a beer! ;-)
